MEELAAD-un-NABI (sal lal laa hu alay hi wa sallam) REPORT

Alhamdulillah through the grace of Allah Almighty
the Saaberie Chisty Society hosted its 18th annual
Eid-Melaad-un-Nabi (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam)
celebration in Ext. 6 Lenasia, Johannesburg, Gauteng
South Africa from the 20th to the 23rd of March
2008.
The celebration was held in respect to the birth of
Hazrat Muhammed (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam). This
programme was attended by approximately 3000
Muslims. The main highlight of the Sunday programme
was the gradation (dastaarbandi) of three Hufaaz,
Students that have completed the memorizing of the
Holy Quraan at the Saaberie Chishty Zia-ul-Uloom..
Below are
the details of the programme:
1) Thursday - (20th March 2008
The passion and spirit of the Melaad-un-Nabi (Sallallaahu
Alaihi Wasallam) celebrations began from Thursday
night which was the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal, with
Quraanic recitation and Naat recitals as well as
inspirational discources. The programme terminated
with a Salaato Salaam and Niaz refreshments were
served.
2) Friday - (21st March 2008)
After Esha Salaah the Moulood Shareef and Naat
recitals were conducted by the "clique" .The
programme terminated with a Salaato Salaam and Niaz
refreshments were served.
3) Saturday - (22nd March 2008)
Saturday after Esha Salaah a Mehfil-e-Naat Programme
was scheduled at the Masjid. The Master of Ceremony
was Qari Zahid Ahmed Zahidi. He called upon various
Ulama and Naat Khwaans to render Naat Shareef –
praises of the Holy Prophet (Sallallaahu Alaihi
Wasallam).
The Guest Naat Reciter was the famous nationally
acclaimed ‘Muneer Qaderi ’ who presently residing in
Cape-Town. Alhamdulillah he captivated the audiences
with his beautiful rendition of Naat Shareef as well
as Manqabats in the praises of the Auliya Allah,
that the attendees of the programme insisted that he
continue reciting in his unique style with his
melodious voice. This session of the programme
terminated after mid-night with a Salaato Salaam and
Niaz refreshments were served to all.
4) Sunday - ( 23rd March 2008)
At 9:40 am the Juloos (march past) began from the
Total garage to the Masjid. The March was led by the
Lenasia Muslim Brigade. Various Ulama and leaners
rendered beautiful Naats on route.
At 10:30am the learners programme began in which
recitals and speeches were delivered. This programme
lasted for about 45 minutes.
At 11:25am the main programme began with the
recitation of the Qiraat rendered by Qari Wajihudeen,
this was followed by a few recitals of Nat-e-Paak by
Janaab Muneer Qaderi. Qari Zahidi recited a manqabat
in praise of Hazrat Saabir Paak (ra) . Sheikh
Khalifa Umar then spoke to the crowd regarding his
acceptance into Islam.
The graduation ceremony then took place. Each Hafiz
was turbaned, handed a certificate and then
presented with a token of appreciation from the
Saaberie Chisty Society which was a gold coin valued
at over R1000. the Hufaaz that graduated were a)
Hafez Samaoon Shaikh, b) Hafez Muhammed Raza Ebrahim
and c) Hafez Aayat Muhammed.
At 12:40pm the guest Professor Abdur Rahim from
Durban delivered a dynamic speech. The Professor has
a doctorate in Islamic Law. The crowd enjoyed his
lecture a lot.
Among some of the Ulama that were present were
Moulana Nisar Barakati – Manzare Islam , Moulana
Nurul Ain- Jaamia Razvia, Qari Istiyaaq Parker –
Cape Town, Sheikh Khalifa Umar – Tanzania, Hafez
Shafi – Zia-ul-Uloom, Qari Zahidi – Saaberie Chisty,
Qari Wajihudeen- Zia-ul-Uloom, Moulana Sayed Yusuf –
Saaberie Chisty ,Moulana Sayed Imraan Ziyaee – Imaam
Ahmed Raza Masjid , Moulana Musa – Jaamia Razvia,
Moulana Naasik Ahmed- Lenasia, Qari Sher Zamaan – (D.U.Pretoria),
Moulana Sultan – Standerton, Hafiz Ismail Hazarvi –
Darul Uloom Pretoria and Professor Abdur Rahim –
Durban.
The programme terminated with Salaatus Salaam and
Dua-e-Khair. This was then followed by Zohr Salaah
and then Mutton Biryani which was served to all as
Lunch (Langar). Indeed a success once again.
