Sunday the 20^th January 2008 – 11^th Muharram 1429 another memorable day for  Saaberie Chishty Society  its members, friends and well wishes. The Society held the official opening of the SAABERIE CHISHTY DAWAH CENTRE an Islamic information Centre in the informal settlement of Drieziek Extension 5, Orange Farm.

The programme commenced with a melodious recitation of the Holy Quraan by Qari Wajihudeen (teacher of the Hifz Class at Saaberie Chisty Zia-ul-Uloom). These verses were then translated into Zulu by a student of Saaberie Chishy Zia-ul-Uloom Abdullah Shabangu.  Thereafter a Welcome Qasida was rendered by the students of the Islamic Dawah Centre. Moulana Sayed Yusuf shared a few sentiments with the crowd regarding the establishment and background of the Saaberie Chishty Society. This was then followed by various other renditions in Arabic which was translated into English and then into Zulu for the benefit of the masses.

Sheikh Hussain Theka also gave a brief message to the public which was trailed by a discourse delivered by the  Guest Speakers Brother Rafeek Hassen and Brother Farouk Modisane of OODISA in Durban. Amongst the guests was the councillor of the area Mrs Semango, who also conveyed her message and was very grateful to the organization for embarking on this project. She furthermore outlined issues regarding the evils of drugs etc… quoting from the handbill which was distributed thereafter.

The programme concluded with the presentation of gifts, vote of thanks, Salaatus Salaam and Dua-e-Khair. After Zohr Salaah lunch was served to all.

Alhamdulillah thus far (24/01/2008) 85 learners have already registered on a daily basis at the afternoon Madressa.

Ten females have started attending Adult classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays mornings between 10:00am - 12 noon.
