Freedom Day Commemoration
Wow! The year is just whizzing by with winter starting off with colds. Alhamdulillah to Almighty Allah for the little things and the big things whether bad or good, for the everyday things and its surprises always come along the way.
All Praises to Almighty Allah, the Lord of the Heavens and Earth and everything in between. We welcome our Dawah Day programme glued together with Freedom day commemoration, the need to address issues concerning our community everyday as a way to promote Islam in all angles. The programme was graced by an Opening prayer with a warm welcome that put a smile on everyone’s face.
To have freedom is to have rights governing our lives, equality, language & culture, life, freedom of beliefs & opinion etc. So the question was “ how do we organize ourselves at a community level, the outcome of freedom we embraced since liberation, freedom to all juvenile delinquencies and how we as parents contribute to this level i.e. education, sex, drugs, unemployment etc.
Since it was more of a lesson procedure, there was total attentiveness when Sheikh Hussein and Ml Abdullah stood up to speak about freedom on the perspective view of Islam and how that governs superb freedom to all humanity without discrimination of race, color or tribe.
Questions of sexuality and drug abuse were openly discussed since it was a subject of much speculation, upon all gathering they came to one understanding of modesty as the fundamental element of all human social life religiously and in Society. There is a clear indication that we all live in a society where all these bad influences are rampant. On this Day we were unfortunate because of the unavailability of the SAPS after an invitation was sent to them to help us discuss such topics of concern.
Nonetheless, above all, Islam provides us with time to fully absorb splendors in education and social lives. Our constitution governing our lives is from the two sources of the Holy Qur’an and the traditions of our Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Many of us are caught up in the day and its duties and forget to make a special moment for our family, to sit and set rules governing on how we wish and want our dear ones to be good personnel’s in future generations. Every home is different so let’s adopt the best teachings of Islam to encourage our children to take a lead to a good life. Nabi Muhammad (peace be upon him) is reported to have said “ the best gift a father can give his child is good character” and that dear friends begins with modeling and teaching good manners. Many a parent turns a blind eye and this creates a poor impression of his/her own character. You and your child are the ambassadors of your home and family name.
Lunch was served after the Zuhr prayer, unity and love was the standardizer of beauty on this day, where Moulana Yusuf Sayed distributed ladies jackets to all females who were present on this day. May Allah bless such an initiative that totally shows that Islam is a religion of peace, love and the champion of equality.
