Ulama Council Gauteng - Press Statement
We have found that the homosexual community has clandestinely approached the Department of Education with the intention of changing the curriculum to suit their needs.
This approach and methodology which was used gives a clear indication that the homosexual lobby has total and complete disregard and disrespect to the viewpoint, culture and religious sentiments of the vast majority of the population.
It is our view, a view which we all engage the Department of Education on, that the demands made by the homosexual lobby should be disregarded. This demand is unrealistic and would create a climate whereby the education system would loose its value in terms of the ultimate aim and objective that our education system is striving to achieve. Furthermore the demands are primarily aimed at self appeasement and has no educational value.
The attitude whereby the will of a small minority wishes to impose its way of living on the majority, reminiscent of the apartheid days will create unnecessary tensions both in the classroom as well as in a large number of homes.
It would appear that the favourable Constitutional Court judgement which they had obtained was a hollow victory. The real aim is to make their actions socially acceptable, even at the expense of creating social chaos.
This change which they wish to enforce is at the cost to taxpayers, the large majority of which have a very strong moral objection to the actions of the homosexual and lesbian lobby.
